It’s just the third week and Honor 9 lite with four cameras is launched in India starting at Rs 10999. 2018 promises to be an exciting year for smartphone lovers and Honor is early to the party.
Hey My Awesome Buddies !
Honor is known to offer impressive hardware at a very aggressive price. Honor 9 lite is no different with powerful hardware like the High Silicon Kirin 659 and 3GB/4GB RAM. However, the highlight of Honor 9 lite are the four cameras, two in front and two at back. Honor is among the first manufacturers to bring the dual camera concept in the market. Now it seems to revolutionize the smartphone market bringing four cameras to the scene.
It also carries forward the 2017 trend of 18:9 screen ratio. Sporting a 5.6 inch IPS display that looks stunning and with the bezzle less design makes for a great media consumption device. The powerful Kirin 659 is one of the most capable mid-tier chip currently in the market. Coupled with the 3/4GB RAM, it assures heavy multitasking and hardcore usage with ease. In my experience, I have seen Kirin chips to be very powerful and power efficient at the same time. Though the market it leads by Qualcomm with its Snapdragon, Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin chips are not very far behind if not better in some areas.

What to Look Forward
Honor 9 lite has already made few headlines for bringing four cameras at this price range. It, however, remains a question of quality it has to offer in real life. Honor has always taken cameras seriously even in the budget segment and we can expect similar results this year. Apart from the cameras, there are many others things too that excites me as a tech lover. To begin with, the design of Honor 9 lite is sexy and sure to turn heads around for its shiny back design. Covered with 2.5D curved glass on both front and back, giving a fresher look at the metal unibody design we have become accustomed to in this price range. One word that defines the design is stunning. It looks and feels very premium and I am honestly very hyped for the looks at this price point.
Complementing the stunning glass design is the tall bezzle less 5.6″ display sporting 18:9 aspect ratio and 428 pixels per inch. Powering the beauty is the Kirin 659 which is a very capable and power efficient processor. It houses a 3000 mAh battery with a 10-watt charger. Though it has the old micro USB which can bitter the newer aesthetic a bit. However, retaining the old 3.5mm headphone jack is a very welcome move in my opinion and more manufacturers must stick to this, at least in this price range. To support the device you get two options of RAM with a 3/4GB option. You also get 32GB or 64GB storage with Hybrid slots for SD Card expansion if needed.

Honor 9 lite with its stunning look, powerful processor and four cameras looks like a great deal for the price of Rs 10,999. Though it is too early to make any comments on the performance, based on our earlier experience using Kirin 659 we expect a great performance. Just looking at the device can make you fall for it is one of the gorgeous looking devices in this price range. The glass back though fragile looks very premium. Adding to the premium feel of the device is the 18:9, 5.6″ display which is gradually becoming an industry standard. But for now, this has to be one of the best devices with an 18:9 display at this price range.
It all sounds too good, however, there are few small hiccups, like the micro USB port or the price of the higher 4/64GB variant. I am not sure why Honor decided to price the 4/64GB variant at Rs 14,999 which is really absurd considering only the storage and RAM difference. Even the 32GB seems to be a great deal as you get a hybrid slot for memory expansion. One thing that is must to keep in mind, get a case for the phone. Replacing the screen or the back glass will be costly going by my past experiences with glass back phones. They look great but I still feel they are not very functional and a lot more slippery. Also, they are more prone to scratches which can damage the look of the device within few days.
It still looks fair for the base variant with a great display, excellent build, and great on-paper cameras. We will try to get hold of one of the devices to bring you the original performance of the device in real life. Stay tuned to us.
